Makeup. I love it. Most of you that view my blog probably love it.
I am also aware that to keep your skin looking good with the makeup on you need good skincare & a good diet. I do think that with that we need to let our skin 'breathe'... Breathe in the fact of, leave the makeup off for the day and evening.
I at least twice a week I spend these days in doors (because no one wants to see this face without slap!) with no makeup on whatsoever. I will have a shower, cleanse my face whilst in there with my Simple face wash and allow the steam of the shower to give me a free steam facial while in there(!), once I'm out I will use the Simple toner & then the light lotion from Simple. And that's it! Nothing else all day. **I am currently using Simple but depending on how my skin is depends what I use~see my other bog > http://iihmakeupandglitter.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/skincare-do-you-need-to-change-up.html?spref=bl
This is known as the 5:2 diet of skincare. It has apparently been recommended by Dermatologists. As doing the above can have some the following benefits:
Younger Looking Skin.
Fresher Looking Skin.
Breakouts/Spots Less Often.
Bright & Clear Complexion.
Improvement of Collagen Regeneration.
Apparently celebrities have been doing this for a while. Hence the rise in the pap photos/selfies with them having no make up on. Hey if we can get skin like Jessica Alba its got to be worth it, right?! ;)
The key is to not put any makeup on at all. But to continue you skincare routine, as you still need to nourish your skin. It has a much better chance to get all of the benefits of the skincare you are using as you aren't 'blocking' its way by using makeup. **If it is sunny, make sure you use SPF!!!! Elizabeth Arden do a brilliant one ^ see above blog ^ click link.
I have been doing this for rather a long time. I sort of 'fell' into it at first; it was when I got unwell with IIH & couldn't do anything at first, then I couldn't put makeup on due to being unable to see and then because my whole head & eyes were far too sensitive. But I noticed the more time without makeup the better my skin was. Since I have started wearing makeup again, I just make sure I have at least my two days without.
My skin has never been better. I use to suffer with bad spots/skin around my chin & also on my forehead, (mainly hormones) but all that has gone now! I only get the odd spot in these areas every now and then. I genuinely think it is down to the 5:2 SKIN DETOX. That and also a much healthier diet, full of fruit & veg. I really think you can think yourself & eat yourself to better skin.
What do you guys think?
Do you skin detox?
Or have a particular skin routine you do?
I'd love to hear back.
Kate.
