SAS: Who Dares Wins

SAS: WHO DARES WINS

'Staff'

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that I watched the above series SAS: Who Dares Wins.
We have the 'staff':

~ Anthony Middleton (Boss man!) ~ Colin MacLachlan ~ Jason 'Foxy' Fox ~ Matt 'Ollie' Ollerton ~

Got very into it and very excited by the 'staff' in their tight T-shirts & muscles... Especially Jason 'Foxy' Fox.... Just O to the M to the G. (Sorry to the FiancĂ© for like the 100th time!)

'Foxy'

Anyways, pulling myself back on track! The series documented how civilians from all walks of life would do when put into the extreme circumstances that the SAS or SBS would expect to be put through in selection and then deal with. Although, I gather not as hard core as it was televised!

Survive, Evade, Resist, Extract

The recruits, got stripped of their names, given numbers on arm bands and a kit. If at any point they wanted out, all they had to do was take their armband with their number on and hand it to a member of 'staff'. There were to only call those in charge 'staff'. Not their proper name or anything like mate. Its all part of the process to kick start selection or in this case ~ Are you tough enough?
The mind games and physical fitness started straight away. It was really interesting watching who thought they were the bees knees, stumble. Talk about egos! There were others who you wouldn't think would get far, come a long way.

The recruits

Obviously, as time went on, they had less and less sleep, more blisters and more physical and mental challenges to do. Their own minds were playing tricks on them. Standing and falling asleep.
The body can only go as far as the mind will push it at times, but when you have gone through so much already and your physically and mentally tired there is going to be a point were you give in. I can totally see why there use these tactics for selection into the SAS and SBS.

Cable ties...

It was an epic programme. Defo worth watching if you haven't. Also there is a massive twist toward the end with one recruit! I wont say as if you haven't seen I don't want to spoil it.

You also got to find more out on the backgrounds of the 'staff' too; like Colin MacLachlan speaks about the time he got captured, 'Foxy' speaks about his PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Yes, its an entertainment programme, the fellas are hot (Sorry again babe!) but there's a deeper message to it too. Its getting the message out about PTSD which if left without help, treatment or continued awareness, it can be a silent killer.

Ant & Colin on This Morning

'Foxy' is in a rowing team called Team-Essence (their Twitter @teamessencerow)
They are "Rowing for records and the NSPCC".
I will be doing a separate blog on this, so keep your eyes peeled!!

He also supports his friends charity Rock2Recovery (Twitter @Rock2Recovery)
"Inspiring the fight against stress & brain injury in our Armed Forces, Veterans and their Families."
I believe he is doing so as part of his own recovery process for his PTSD.

You can read about Jason 'Foxy' Fox's PTSD by clicking HERE

Oh, 'Ollie' and 'Foxy' run Break-Point. (Twitter @Break_PointUK)

Want to test yourself to the limit? Go for it!
I am more than likely going to do a post on just Break-Point later. So keep popping back!

The best news is that there is a SECOND series!! YAY!
It is in the JUNGLE!
And this time... Women can apply!

If I was in better nick, I would have totally applied for it!
Who knows, if my IIH continues to behave, my neurologist is happy and I get the ok from the cardiac clinic to say my PE's have completely cleared... I may just apply for series 3...
