About Me

Hi.
My name is Katherine or Kate but everyone has a different nickname for me. :)

I am an absolute addict when it comes to makeup and anything sparkly or glittery; also obsessed with hair styles. :D
I change my mind like the wind as to what colour I want mine, what length I want it etc.
At the moment my hair is dark brown, just above my shoulders... But I have just bought some more hair dye(!) watch this space.

I love experimenting with makeup.
Nothing is too much or too dark, too bright, too anything really! Think all my close friends and family would agree there.
Don't get me wrong, I do like to do the natural, paired back look too.

I started this blog all down to the fact in early 2014 I got rather ill.
It was worse as we were all unsure of what was wrong with me at the beginning, but then when I was finally diagnosed, it was difficult as its rare.
*What I had is IIH.*
Its proper name is Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension.
A mouthful right?! Its a brain/eye thing and bloody nasty...
I spent 2014 in and out of hospital. With the likelihood of brain surgery being a reality looming over me constantly.
If you want to read more click here.

I only started in March 2015, to take it upon myself to start reading up on the condition. I was too scared to do so before.
I have done so via the internet/other IIH'ers/forums and other research I can get my hands on to see how people 'cope' with the illness during the hard times and the good.
As I was going through all of these 'stories' I couldn't help but think how negative they all were.
It was quite depressing. When you are depressed about your situation already, this most definitely doesn't help in the slightest.

Thing is, yes it is a slightly shit situation to be in, but there is ALWAYS a SILVER LINING IN LIFE! :)

THAT IS WHY I STARTED TO BLOG... I WANTED TO BE THE SILVER LINING PEOPLE FOUND WHEN THEY RESEARCHED THIS ILLNESS!!

After a horrific 2014, I am now  in remission and killing it at the gym in every aspect > cardio, weights (yes, I hang out with the fellas lifting proper weights) and do mat work involving squats, lunges and flexibility (also involves weights). I am grabbing life with both hands, legs, mouth (lol) anything I can. I am making plans for the future. I am getting excited about what it holds. Also living in the now... But organisation is key! I LOVE LIFE!!

To be honest if this awful thing hadn't have happened, I still probably would have still been doing the same mundane things in life. Ignoring such wonderful things around me. Taking it for granted that I wake up every morning. Now... Now I don't:

There is nothing better than hearing the birds sing their morning chorus, sitting with my FiancĂ© watching films, smiling so much your cheeks hurt, getting *good* headaches from laughing, planning little trips (whether it be abroad or at home), listening to what your loved ones have done that week, reading a book where its so quiet... the list goes on! There is so much to be thankful for in life. Don't let a illness or life-threatening or sight threating or anything like that (as I did) come stomping over to you, to have to remind you... Cause it might be too late!

LIFE IS TO LIVE; NOT TO ENDURE!

GO LIVE IT!

Kate

XxX
