This is a list of my LOVES:
*It can take any outfit (including a work uniform) from dull to chick,
*If you feel your makeup is a bit 'boring' one day, slick on a bit of orange lippy & it transforms the whole look,
*Orange is multi seasonal; meaning you can carry it through from spring to winter,
*It just keeps coming back into fashion,
*Orange is a great shade to colour block with,
*Also its a great tone to colour clash with; purple & orange are fab colours to do this with (purple eyes ~ orange lips)
*Add glitter or choose a high shimmer option for a special occasion, or if you are generally just a glittery person... Like me,
*They come in all different applications; matte, high shine, bold, muted, glittery, gloss, this list is endless, soooo....
EVERYONE has a shade that will suit them!!
You hear that Louise?!?!?!?! Lol.
To show that my little theories are right... ;) I have compiled the following:
Fair skin:
So in the above picture, we have a 'typical' fair skinned beauty.
Pale skin, blue eyes, light golden brown hair.
If this beaut can wear orange lippy... ANYONE can!
And doesn't she look STUNNING in it??!!
I love the bright orange, matte lip on her.
She has paired the bright light well, with keeping the rest of her makeup muted, especially the cheeks.
It appears as though the middle/inner part of the lip has had the lippy put on straight from the bullet and then been blended, possibly by the ring finger, on the outer edges, to create a more softer subtle look.
Again this next fair skinned beauty has gone for a matte, orange lip.
Not as bright as the previous; possibly more 'coffee' toned. Also if you don't want it to be as bright as it is from the bullet, it can be achieved by using your ring finger & dabbing the lippy on, rather than applying straight from the bullet itself.
This time we have a bright blondie!
She has gone all over orange with the makeup & I love it!
The lips have a softer, but more coral tone & make more impact with a high shine finish.
Perfect for the girls who have smaller/thinner lips as this gives the allusion of them being bigger!
She has made the most of her eye colour (blue) and put a orange/brown eye shadow on to accentuate them.
The final touch is an ever so soft peach blush.
Here we go. How could we miss out Cara?! Just couldn't.
This is obviously a daring look and not for the faint hearted.
Bright, high shine orange lips.
Perfect for summer.
The lippy would have definitely been applied via the bullet or even by a lipstick brush, to stop the lipstick 'bleeding' I would most certainly apply a lip liner of the same colour or clear and then add a super shiny clear gloss to finish.
Tip:
In this windy weather, to stop you getting gloss everywhere but to still have a mega shiny pout, just apply the gloss to the middle of your lips.
Not a lot going on with the check but a hell a lot going on with the eyes
& brows!
Defo a cat walk look or one to spike interest!
Here we have the beautiful Emily.
Yes redheads CAN wear orange lipstick!
She most defo has liner on to stop any 'bleeding'.
I also think that its more of a creamy based lippy too. Just by looking at the finish on her lips. Applied from the bullet & possibly smoothed over with a lip brush after.
Once again, not a lot of fuss with the rest of the make up, but great defined brows.
Dainty.
Miss Zoe D!
Classically beautiful in her orange lippy.
Gorgeous feline eyes with those amazing glass blue peepers of hers and a muted orange lip daintily painted on.
Lip liner ~ yes, then I would say that a lip brush has been used to apply the lipstick.
No high shine or brightness needed for this look.
Perfection.
Medium skin:
Jessica Alba is the just stunning.
She once again has nailed it, with her stunning selection of orange lips.
Going for a slightly warmer shade of orange, than the fair skinned girls, she has chosen the correct shade.
Complimenting the overall look with smoky brown eyes.
Beaut.
Miss Gomez.
Here she proves that not all orange lip rockers have to go bold.
You can just wear a neutral, more natural shade if your wanting to dip our toe in or if you don't quite feel brave enough.
This shade is a beautiful coral Id say with a shimmer running through it. Looks to be of creamy consistency again.
Shimmer, once again fab if you have thin lips as it makes them look fuller.
If you go for a shade like this, you are able to go for more makeup on the rest of your face.
Selina has got more blush going on & dark lined eyes.
Another medium skinned gorgeous.
This time matching nails to boot!
This is another thing. You can have fun with orange lips and match them up with your nails. Hell you could even create new patterns whilst your at it!
This look is obviously bright!
Nearing on neon.
If your going for this look ~ just apply bronzer, a slick of back eyeliner, mascara & if you want more colour maybe a nice turquoise eyeliner just along the bottom lashes. Perfect holiday makeup.
This look I think is great for those girls who are for sure olive skinned or who tan extremely well (like Michelle Keegan ~ Or should I say Michelle Wright!)
Great for holiday.
This look is even more enticing with her eye colour. Amazing!
Bold, bright, big orange lips.
Matte once again. With definition.
Lip liner used for sure, possibly lipstick applied via ring finger & brush.
Contouring & dramatic eyes.
One for the Latino's out there!
Power brows and neon orange lips.
The rest of the make up is left very muted and simple.
The lips literally do the talking in this makeup.
This girl isn't shy. She's gone in straight from the bullet!
Go girl!
Dark skin:
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
First of all, how amazingly clear is her skin?!
Anyways, matte is the choice once again.
The colours that seemed bright on the fair skinned girls now look muted & perf on this dark skinned hunny.
I recon that it has been applied via the bullet and blended in with the ring finger.
Rest of the makeup is subtle once again.
Flawless looking base, sight rose on cheeks, and golden brown eye shadow with full on lashes.
She is STUNNING!
Now, I think this is the exact same look as what Cara D had on in the Fair skinned section (correct me if I am wrong) can you see the contrast between looks?
I mean how different is it from being fair to dark skinned?
I have to admit I do prefer the orange lips above.
Like I said on Cara's picture, it wasn't for the faint hearted as it was more daring. However the darker skinned you are, the bolder you can go with your orange lipstick.
As you can see above.
Ok so we have Solange, who wears a bit of orange lippy on a regular basis.
I much prefer the picture on the right.
I think it is partially the hair, but mainly due to the fact that she has got some amazing contouring going on!!
The lipstick shade seems to be relatively the same, but if you look at her cheek bones and her jawline they are a much more defined. That can only be achieved through weight loss & fantastic makeup!!
So, even if you are reaching for your lippy, just make sure you got the rest of your look on point...
Finally, we have possibly the brightest lip on here.
They actually look good enough to eat.
I would say that you need to have a large pout in the first place before putting a lipstick on like this; otherwise you may just look like you have drawn a highlighter pen onto your lips. Not a good look!
But this gorgeousness has got it spot on.
Smoky eyes, power brows, slight blush/bronze & awesome pout.
You will need a lip liner for this, in clear, then apply the lipstick from the bullet and finally use your lip brush to make sure its on evenly.
Tah dah.
General Rules:
*Fair skinned ~Go for a more 'blue' toned orange lippy ~ so that's your corals, your pink oranges, your more frosty orange lippys.
*If you are really scared of giving it a go; use a orange coloured gloss for the first time & then build up from there.
*Use your ring finger to 'dab' the lipstick into your lips, as the makes the colour more subtle.
*If the colour you buy is too bright or too 'orange' mix the lipstick with a pink lippy you have to make it into your own unique shade.
*Medium/Dark skinned ~ choose red/brown toned oranges to suit your skin tone.
Alternatively,
JUST HAVE FUN!!!!
That is ultimately what makeup is about.
I like to try different makeup looks every now and then that are a little out of my comfort zone.
I think it does you some good to challenge yourself like that.
So on that note,
Go out, buy an orange lippy and get creative!!
:D
I would love to see you with your orange lippy on & let me know if I have inspired you at all.
Kate

All pictures (apart from the last one of me) are from Bing search engine.
With my medium skin, I'll definitely try it out! I'm more of a neutral person, so I think Selena's look will be perfect!
