D.I.Y Leave In Hair Conditioner

I decided to have a little mooch around Superdrug.
I wanted a BB cream, an under eye concealer & a leave in conditioner for my bleach dyed locks.

I managed to get the BB cream & under eye concealer no problem.
I got these products in the bargain range (I shall blog about these products another day, after trialling).

However, after looking for about 10 minutes for the leave in hair conditioner I couldn't find one I wanted... Don't ask me how or why I decided that, I just couldn't!

Then, as if a light bulb had gone off in my little peanut of a brain, I decided that I would
MAKE MY OWN LEAVE IN CONDITIONER!
And tailor it to my very own needs!

Perfect.

What you will need:
1 Empty 100ml spray bottle,
1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil,
1 Pure green tea bag,
100ml Freshly boiled water,
1 Tablespoon of Nourishing conditioner.

First of all, pop 1 teaspoon of Olive oil into the empty spray bottle.
I wanted to make this leave in conditioner as easy as possible for myself, so I utilised whatever ingredients I had at home. I had olive oil, so that was my choice.
Just one of these is enough.
You don't want an oil slick in your hair!
Eww.
Here it is in my chosen spray bottle.
I just got a Superdrug own brand, 100ml bottle.
I chose the pink top... They have other colours available.

Next step:

Boil the kettle & pour on top of the pure green teabag to 150ml.
The reason you go to 150ml, is because the teabag takes some of the water away with it.

*Important*
Allow to cool for at least 30 mins with the teabag infusing.
Do NOT pour boiling hot water into the plastic container!!
I chose pure green tea, as this is really good for you & your hair (I'll explain more in a sec)
Here's the teabag infusing and cooling.

Once the tea is cool enough to pour into the plastic container, strain the teabag, stir the water & pop in the bottle.
Once in, screw top on tight & SHAKE!
(Who likes my Flamingo cup?!?!)

Now you can just leave it there; as the oil will nourish the hair with the green tea/water.

I though wanted more softness & substance to my leave in conditioner; also I kinda feel as though it wouldn't have be right to call it leave in conditioner, without conditioner...

I popped a tablespoon of this in.
I love this conditioner as it really does make my hair feel silky-soft & strong.

Once that is in, give it a vigorous SHAKE.

ET VOILA.

Your very OWN,
HANDMADE,
Leave in Conditioner,
Perfect size for your handbag or travels.

**Before spritzing ~ Give it a good SHAKE**

Now I can here you all saying "But why Green Tea?"
My answer is simple:
I have put Green Tea in this as it is good for your hair as well as your body.
Lots of people drink it for the fab benefits that you get from Green Tea but what they don't realise is how great it is for the hair!
Before doing this I researched it.
Especially as I started drinking the green stuff myself recently (see HERE)

Here are a few benefits from using Green Tea in your hair:
Stimulates hair growth & combats hair loss when applied directly onto the scalp,
Helps with dandruff/dry scalp (once again onto the scalp)
Strengthens,
Vit E ~ helps reverse dry/damaged hair,
Protects against sun damage,
Natural hair softener,
Obviously it conditions too.
I'm sure there are lots more!

When using Green Tea directly onto your scalp, I wouldn't recommend using the leave in conditioner.
Use a Green Tea rinse instead.

The oil is used for nourishment and shine.
You can choose whichever oil you would like.
I would have chosen a different/better oil for in my HOMEMADE product but olive oil was all I had to hand! Lol.

And I kinda hope you get the idea with the conditioner...
;)

What I want to do next time is add a couple drops of essential oil; like lemongrass or chamomile, as I really like the smell of those.
Popular choices in hair products are peppermint & lavender.
I will also choose a different oil; probably sweet almond or grape seed.
Popular choice oils are jojoba & extra virgin olive oil.

I do hope you have enjoyed reading my blog as much as I have writing it.

Please let me know if your going to give this a go
&
how you get on if you do.

Also, what leave in conditioner do you use at current?
If any.

Kate
