Calling Dr Jones...

Afternoon people. :)

Today I am recovering after my successful (YAY!) LP yesterday. It was X-ray guided, as previously I had an unguided LP that was unsuccessful. [That's on my other blog lp fail but makeup & love makes it better. ] As I am writing this I am laying on the sofa with a low pressure headache & can just feel where my eyes and head are starting to relax, after the pressure has been taken away. My back is naturally sore as well, from where the LP was performed. However I would prefer all of this than letting it get worse and ending up in excruciating pain.

My Dad took me to my appointment yesterday which was rather early, 8.30am. By this time I was looking good in my blue gown they supplied me with! :D See bellow:

Sorry I don't look as good as normal, tired & emosh!

One thing I don't like about X-ray LP's... No nail polish allowed :(

I ALWAYS take a little crop top to put on when I go for LP's. As I have to take my top half of clothes off. But my knockers are on the large side so I like to keep them secure. LOL. Cant have them doing their own thing under my blue gown, can I?! My bottom half is left on; as the opening of said gown is at the back I make sure I don't have anything see through on though! Dresses and skirts are no, no's. Ha, Ha.

I was kitted out & nervous as hell, but ready as I would ever be, to go for my LP.
My nurse came over to check my blood pressure, temperature, put my name tag on, check my pupil reactions and details. As soon as she saw me she was like "Oh Katherine, we haven't seen you for a while!" Now..... You know you've been poorly when the staff recognise you! Especially, when you was last on that unit 6 months ago & they all remember you.... As they all did! LOL. It is nice though, as there is an instant report & they don't need to keep checking your details. :)

I was sat there getting more and more nervous, feeling absolutely shattered too, chatting more and more rubbish to my Dad. Poor bloke. Ha. Then just after 9am, I heard the porters say my name. That's when my heart sank...

I was on my bed just opposite the X-ray room, with Dad, waiting for the Dr or one of the team to come in and get me; when a gent kitted out in the same blue as me, top and bottom (no slit in the back Ha) He had salt & pepper hair, a good looking face & toned arms... Yep I was perving. :/ He said his name was Dr Jones. At this point I heard nothing else but the song 'Dr Jones' by Aqua!!! HAHAHAHAHA. He then asked me a question & I just looked blank :'D He said it again & then we got talking. He was WICKED! He had a sense of humour. This was the best this that could happen, a 'normal' non-stuck up quack.

I went into the room & we done the procedure different. Anyone that has had an LP knows that its normally done laying on your side, today, NOPE! I had to lay on my tummy. I know, my tummy?!?! That's the look I had on my face. Perplexed. But I have got to say I have not had an LP done where I have felt more safe, ever. Also the most comfortable one too. Dr Jones was awesome, he had me laughing while it was being done. That it really hard to do. I am a nervous wreck during these things. He was also humming. He, along with the nurse that was helping him, was chatting away to me. It took a long time for the fluid to drain out, he said "I don't mind as we get to chat for longer." Ha.
My main worry, as we were chatting, was the fact my makeup was going all over the pillow though!! And that I was more than likely going to look like a panda once this was done! Why didn't I wear waterproof mascara?! I said this to them, they laughed & DR Jones said "Don't worry, the NHS cuts aren't that bad! We do change the pillows for each patient!" Once we were done, yes my mascara was on the pillow & I quickly wiped under my eye!

When I was back on the day ward, I had to lay flat for 2 hours. During this time I get monitored closely with blood pressure, pupils, etc. Its also when the headache kicks in & the local anaesthetic wears off! I get bored. So I text my friends and family how it went, while Dad tells me to stop wiggling! I also took selfies:

Me, bored. Look how white my eyes are after my LP.

Then I was off home, YAY!

Happy to be going home :D

When home, the headache was too much (as gone from high pressure to low) and I was shattered so I went to sleep:

Look at my back today:

Ouchy.  Very red & sore.

Till next time my lovelies.

XxX
