Bubblin' Hot

This week we have seen the weather reach temperatures we haven't experienced in England for about a decade!
It really has been BUBBLIN' HOT!

View from my garden yesterday.

Us as a Nation are a funny lot; we moan when its cold, moan when its not sunny enough for us to get a tan, moan when it rains, snows, then when it gets really hot and sunny we still moan!
We are a nation of moaners.
Lol.

I spent the hottest day of the year (yesterday) in the hospital for check ups on my IIH & my Pulmonary Embolisms.
I moaned because there was no air-con and because I had to wait for so long! Haha.

The main reason for me writing this post though, is I want people to stay safe in this heat & sun.
Especially those with illnesses/disabilities that take lots of meds.

I have compiled a little list of things to remember:

*Keep hydrated. If you can drink water, as that is the best thing for you.

*Eat three healthy meals a day.

*Snack on fruit or veg. They contain water so thus will help with hydration too. Watermelon is fab!

*Avoid the sun at the hottest times of the day - 11am to 2pm roughly.

*Wear sun cream. Apply throughout the day. Get one that combats UVA (A for aging) UVB (B for burning) burning can result in skin cancer later in life. Wear a higher lever sun cream the paler you are. Just because you wear sun cream doesn't mean you wont get a tan!

*Don't drink too much alcohol! If you are drinking alcohol, drink water with it too.

*Keep taking your medications. On time, regular & as prescribed to you.

*Having any problems with your illness? Seek medical advise as soon as you can.

*Keep moving. I know its warm but it does you no good to keep on your bum! A simple walk around the block or round the house, the garden, local field will be better than nothing. Get the blood moving through your veins and body.

Obviously, most of it is common sense.
But when you have an illness like mine and your memory is effected, simple tasks like drinking water, you can forget about.

If this happens to you, set an alarm/reminder on your phone to tell you to grab a drink, eat some fruit, have a walk round the block.
Little things like this can make it easier & also keep you well.

Hope you all enjoy the sun... SAFELY!
